LUXURY BOHO HOLIDAY GIFTING FOR TRAVELERS AND STAY IN THE BACKYARD-ERS
The holidays are fast approaching and lots of people get in a very festive mood. They’re looking to outfit themselves in luxurious and unique clothes, jewels, shoes, hair stuff and sparkly makeup. If they’re going to a resort destination that doesn’t involve snow they’re thinking about what they’re going to be lounging around in while their friends and family back home bitch about how cold it is. Oh, and while they are getting their boho resortwear shopping vibe on for themselves, they pretend they are shopping for other people too. Well, they are, but really it’s a two presents for me, one gift for you type game. I have a theory that this is the reason why people end up spending so much money at the holidays. It’s not the gifts for others that rings up the bill, it’s the ratio of gifts for self to that of gifts for others. That being said, I’m all for being generous in giving no matter who the recipient. Especially if you’re buying Tiger and the Monkey stuff. Yes, that’s shameless. On that note, we’ve published a little gifting guide of my favorite things so I thought I’d give you some “color” around the choices.
UNIQUE AND THOUGHTFUL GIFTS FROM INDEPENDENT BRANDS
First, I love giving things that someone can’t just pick up in the local shopping center or on Amazon and I love receiving things that I would not buy myself – that includes a screaming goat toy I just received from my BFF – which is pretty much the perfect present. I love goats and I love small toys that make a ridiculous noise or that you can manipulate into funny positions. Pure joy, which is a real luxury. However, not everyone would be as pleased to receive such an item so I put together a list of unique and elegant items that you can be sure the recipient will be delighted to receive. There are a few larger brands represented, because I just like the product that much, however, I’m partial to smaller brands that have a unique perspective and whose ethos/vibe align with that of Tiger and the Monkey. I’ve chosen everything from candlesticks to jewelry, handbags to cheeky slippers and knit bottle holders to an oil that you can put anywhere on your body and you’re golden – yuh huh. I envision all of the following scenarios (and my visions always come true): I see me lounging in the Milena in the Caribbean just before Christmas with that wood and sapphire cuff on from German Kabirski (you can get it on Wolf & Badger); wearing that Collina Strada star necklace- damn her stuff is good - and burning that Theta candle on Christmas Day while wrapped up in The Emma star bambula and for sure I will be sporting The June with one of our lightweight silk and cotton pareos wrapped around my head, the bottle carrier from Krelwear and those Adidas Gazelles on my walks around Mazatlan – cue the loud goat sound – I cannot wait!!
