Ahhh, wedding season is upon us and what an adventure that is whether you’re attending one in someone’s backyard like where mine was (accompanied by a raw bar, lobsters and ribeye, bananas foster, a 3D wedding cake in the shape of a happy buddha, Montrachet and Vintage Champagne and luscious Barolo) or a destination – I’m thinking in Bora Bora or the Italian countryside.
Weddings are a celebration of love and family and friends and 95% of the time everyone attending is really happy so the atmosphere is one of joy. Everyone wants to party – whatever his/her version of that is. I especially love weddings because it’s the only place where it’s perfectly acceptable to get drunk (as long as you’re not mean), have random flirtations (if you’re not already attached, of course), dance when you’re a lousy dancer and generally be the most uninhibited and joyful version of you.
So many of the Tiger and Monkey kaftans and dresses would be perfect to wear as a wedding guest.
How about the Diane at a casual beach wedding – yes, please! Colorful lilac flowers with a fun palm tree embroidery and little tiny pompoms – joy in a garment- or the Ruthie, a neutral yellow and grey tiger stripe with tigers and monkeys embroidered on the hood and sleeve. Dayna or Milena would look fabulous at a cocktail hour/evening wedding. You could go bold with Dayna, with an intense eye and a neutral or vibrant high heeled sandal or be a bit more understated in the neutral tones of Milena with maybe a orange-red colored sandal if you felt like pushing the boat out. Don’t forget to pile on the gold jewels too. I see the Kim or the Andrea shirtdress at a daytime garden party wedding and Veronica with our signature hand-stitched shibori tiger and monkey design would work anywhere, especially in a creative venue. No matter what outfit you choose, the key to dressing for the summer wedding season is to dress for style, comfort, dancing and joy.
